Abstract Submissions

Abstract submission is now open! We are calling for abstracts based on original research for ICCES-2025. Authors are expected to submit a one-page abstract of the research study that they plan to present at the conference.

The abstracts should be submitted to the ICCES-2025 Secretariat via the Conference Management Toolkit on or before 30th June 2025. Please see details on preparation of abstracts (link).

Abstracts received before the deadline and in conformity with the submission guidelines will be reviewed. The Editorial Committee will make the final decision regarding submissions based on the reviewers' recommendations.

For accepted abstracts, authors are expected to make the final submissions properly formatted according to the stipulated guidelines, with suggested revisions (if any) incorporated, on or before 20th July 2025s. Confirmed acceptance notifications will be sent by 30th July 2025.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Proceedings in digital form. They will also be added to the Digital Library of the University of Peradeniya and indexed by Google Scholar. Selected abstracts will be invited to submit full-length papers in a special volume of the International Journal of Environmental Issues, published by the Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS), University of Peradeniya.

Mode of Submission

Submissions should be done as soft-copies (MS Word files) through ICCES-2025-CMT (Microsoft Conference Management Toolkit). If you are new to ICCES-2025-CMT, please set up an account for logging in by clicking on the register button and submit the abstract(s) for ICCES-2025. Please visit the documentation of Microsoft Conference Management Toolkit for support.

General Instructions

Abstracts should be based on original research. Research work presented or published elsewhere or already submitted to another conference in the same or a similar form should NOT be submitted.

Abstracts should be short, clear, concise, and coherent, and in accordance with the ‘Abstract preparation guidelines’ given (link).

Abbreviations should be cited in full at the first occurrence, except for standard abbreviations.

Non-English terms should be italicized.

International System of Units (SI) should be used.

Abstracts should be carefully compiled and thoroughly checked for the content and also for typographical errors. Please check the spelling and grammar of the abstract very carefully.

In the case of the abstracts with multiple authors, it is the responsibility of the primary author to obtain the consent of the relevant co-authors for the abstracts before the submissions are made. Please submit the declaration form at final submission.

Once an abstract is accepted, it is obligatory for the primary author or one of the co-author(s) to present the paper at the Conference.

Guidelines for Preparation of Abstracts

Refer to the Sample Abstract Template for the first submission of the One-page Abstract. The authors may simply paste the text of the abstract from their word processor into this template. Please note that a separate Sample Abstract Template (including author(s)' name(s) and affiliation(s)) will be available for resubmission of the One-page Abstract after reviewing.

Formatting requirements for the One-page Abstract are as follows:

  • Size: B5 (ISO – 176 mm x 250 mm)
  • Margins: 25 mm left; 15 mm right; 20 mm top; 20 mm bottom
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 11
  • Language: British English

Content of the abstract: Research background, the research area/problem, objectives, methodology, discussion/significant findings, and conclusions.

Word limit: 300 words maximum (not including the title, name/s of author/s, affiliations, keywords, and acknowledgements).

Title of Abstract: It should be short, specific, and reflect the study carried out. [Formatting: title-case, bold lettering, centre-aligned]

Name(s) of Author(s) and Affiliation(s): This information SHOULD NOT be included in the MS Word file submitted to the system. You will be required to enter this information separately in the online system (ICCES-2025-CMT) at the time of the first submission.

However, authors’ names should be included in the final version (revised abstract) submitted after the review process, if accepted for ICCES-2025. A separate template will be available for this purpose, requesting inclusion of author(s)' name(s) and affiliation(s). It should be submitted as a MS Word file.

Keywords: Provide 4–6 keywords.

Acknowledgements: If necessary, include the grant or other support information for your research in a single sentence (grant number should be in parentheses) at the end of the abstract.

Note: The abstract should not include figures, tables, or references.

Abstracts that do not comply with this format, especially the word limit, will not be reviewed. They will be returned to the corresponding author for rewriting.
