Who are CES Green-Ambassadors?

CES Green-Ambassadors are self motivated academic and non-academic staff volunteers who are passionate about promoting and implementing sustainable practices  at University of Peradeniya. The Green-Ambassadors are welcome to make suggestions  for any changes in legislation, regulations and policies related to environment management at University of Peradeniya.

Can I be a CES Green-Ambassador?

We welcome any academic and non-academic staff member as a Green-Ambassador.  You will be appointed for a period of 12 months and ambassadorship can be renewed upon your request. 

What are the Benefits of Being a  CES Green-Ambassador?

• You will receive a training on sustainability. 

• Self satisfaction for your contribution towards sustainability of the University of Peradeniya.

• You can expand your organization, leadership and communication skills. 

• You will be recognized for your sustainability effort.

• Your voice will be heard by the campus community.

• A certificate will be issued at the end of you term appreciating the contribution you have made during your tenure.

What are the Responsibilities of a  CES Green-Ambassador?

• Be an environmentally responsible role model to the campus community

• You should be able to invest at least 2 hours per month for your responsibilities towards the environment.

• Promote and encourage sustainable practices at your respective department, unit, center, faculty, University and beyond, through dialogue and awareness.

• Assist CES to organize seminars, webinars, workshops, training programs, conferences  etc. 

• Assist CES with Green campaigns.

• Explore opportunities to improve green ranking of the University.

•  Share your ideas, success stories, weaknesses, solutions etc.,  on sustainability with other Green-Ambassadors.

• Supervise CES Greenterns

Do I need a background in Sustainability?

No, not mandatory, you will receive a training on sustainability from the CES. Just bring your enthusiasm and motivation.
