CES Greenterns (i.e. Green Interns) is a  volunteer student internship program at University of Peradeniya, to promote  sustainability at University of Peadeniya. Greenterns are the main driving force behind our push towards sustainability. They are expected to be role models and influencers among their peers to make a positive attitudinal and behavioral change towards a green campus. 

Can I be a CES Greentern?

CES Greentern program is open for any undergraduate student of University of Peradeniya. Students from any faculty with at least one academic year remaining in their study period are encouraged to apply!

What are the desired Skills and Experiences?

• Enthusiasm and motivation to promote sustainability at University of Peradeniya and beyond.

• Creative, critical, and analytical thinking skills and a curiosity for life and learning

• Ability to balance your academic work with extra curricular activities.

• Good leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.

• Familiarity with software such as MS Office, G Suite, Graphic design( Adobe photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), G-suite and Social media(Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, You Tube) will be an added advantage.

What are the Responsibilities of a  CES Greentern?

• Assist CES with organizing events related to sustainability.

• You will work in groups to find innovative, eco friendly solutions to the environmental issues of the campus. 

• Initiate dialogue among students to promote sustainability at University of Peradeniya.

• Promote proper waste management practices at halls of residency. 

• Participate in nature conservation programs of CES.

• Conduct community outreach programs targeting local communities on sustainability.

Do I need a background in Sustainability?

No, not mandatory, you will receive a training on sustainability from the CES. Just bring your enthusiasm and motivation.
