Intended Learning Outcome of the Course:

On the successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

• Explain the qualities of a healthy environment and its impact on health
• Describe the sustainable approaches for mitigating environmental impacts in line with the intended sustainable development of countries
• Explain possible developments for combating environment-induced disease epidemics in Sri Lanka and environment-based solutions to mitigate these health issues
• Develop skills in participants in conducting effective community surveys to combat environment-related health problems and epidemics.

Target Group/Eligibility Criteria

The course is intended for those involved in or seeking career opportunities in the health sector and conducting research in public health or those who intend to do further studies in the fields of environmental science, public health, and social sciences. Those who have fulfilled GCE (A/L) qualifications or above in the science stream, or any other equal qualifications are eligible to follow this course. Prospective candidates should possess adequate proficiency in the English language.

Medium of Instruction : English

Duration of the Course : 10 weeks Lectures will be conducted only on Sundays, but the field visit is scheduled to be on a Monday
