International Conference of the Centre for Environmental Sustainability (ICCES)-2023

The 3rd International Conference of the Centre for Environmental Sustainability was held on 25th August 2023 in online mode at PGIS, University of Peradeniya. Featuring over 50 research abstracts across six thematic areas, the event brought together researchers and professionals to discuss environmental sustainability under climate change. The keynote speech was delivered by Eng. Samantha Kumarasena, Chief Executive Officer of the National Cleaner Production Center of Sri Lanka, on “Creating the Pathways for the Low Carbon, Circular Economy by Enriching Organizational Level Environmental Sustainability Roadmap.” The Chief Guest, Prof. Chandana Udawatta, Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission and Director of the AHEAD Project, addressed the audience virtually, emphasizing the importance of research-driven solutions for sustainable environmental management.

Conference on Environmental Monitoring and Management-2020

The second International Conference of the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) on “Environmental Monitoring and Management” (EMM 2020) was successfully held on the 23rd of October 2020 in the mode of a virtual conference with the participation of Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment as the chief guest and Dr. Ananda Mallawatantri, the Country Representative of IUCN Sri Lanka as the Keynote speaker. This conference was jointly organized by the Centre for Environmental Studies, International Relation Office (InRO) and Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS) of the University of Peradeniya.

Conference on Sustainable Environmental Management-2016

The conference titled “South Asian Symposium on Sustainable Environment Management” was held on 17-18 March 2016 at the University of Peradeniya and the conference proceeding was published (Annexure 03). Director of the SACEP, Dr. M. Khrushid was participated as the Chief Guest and the Director General of the Central Environmental Authority of Sri Lanka, Mr. K.H. Muthukudarachchi as the keynote speaker.
